We have set a goal of having the chairlift in operation by 1 December, and by Christmas at the latest. Chairs will arrive from Austria during the week, says Terje Karlsen, CEO of Skimore Kongsberg.
Background
Earlier this autumn, we experienced a dramatic incident when the violent rain on the night of 4 September flooded the chairlift's underground garage. The entire basement was filled with water, and both the chairs and the electrical control system suffered significant damage.
Since then, we and our supplier Doppelmayr have worked continuously to restore the facility. The chairs have been sent to dry and are being cleaned, while new equipment is on its way. There has been a great effort from both the fire service, our employees and suppliers to get the facility back into operation as quickly as possible.
What does this mean for the ski season? Despite the challenges, we promise that the winter will be as good as ever in Kongsberg! The ski center has three other lifts ready for use, and snowmaking will start as soon as the weather permits.
- It will be winter and skiing regardless, assures operations manager Robert Steinsholt.
Thank you for your patience - we look forward to welcoming you back to the slopes!
